The Drilling Operation Of The Deepwater Development Well With The Highest Pressure in My Country Was Completed in Qiong
Dec 15, 2023

On December 14, CNOOC announced that the drilling operation of Well A12, the highest-pressure development well of the "Deep Sea No. 1" Phase II project located in Lingshui, Hainan, was recently completed, setting a new record for domestic deepwater development well pressure levels and effectively verifying It has demonstrated the reliability and advancement of my country's independently established deepwater oil and gas exploration and development technology system, and is of great significance to ensuring the smooth commissioning of projects and further developing complex deepwater oil and gas resources.
The second phase of "Deep Sea One" is my country's first deepwater high-pressure gas field project, with proven natural gas geological reserves exceeding 50 billion cubic meters. It adopts the "underwater production system + shallow water jacket processing platform + deepwater semi-submersible platform remote control system" model construction. Among the 12 underground gas wells intensively deployed in three well areas in the south, north and east of the project, three wells are deepwater and high-pressure wells.
The A12 well completed this time is the one with the highest pressure and the most difficult operation. Its target layer pressure coefficient reaches 1.74 and the formation pressure reaches 69 MPa, which is equivalent to 1,000 times the working pressure of a household pressure cooker. The technical difficulty and safety risks of drilling operations are All very high.
"We have carried out 16 scientific research projects on wellbore safety, cost reduction and efficiency improvement, and have overcome six key problems such as safety control of deepwater high-pressure wells and maintenance of development wellbore integrity, and have formed a safe operation plan to ensure the successful realization of operation goals." Said Dai Rui, drilling director of CNOOC's "Deep Sea No. 1" Phase II project.
According to Liu Shujie, chief engineer of CNOOC Hainan Branch, the drilling depth of Well A12 exceeded 4,300 meters. At this point, the total drilling footage of the second phase of the "Shenhai No. 1" project has exceeded 50,000 meters, which is equivalent to the height of six Mount Everests. The overall progress of the work reached 90%. The drilling operation schedule of the entire project is more than 150 days ahead of schedule, and the efficiency is improved by more than 30%.
Liu Shujie said that after the second phase of the "Shenhai No. 1" project is put into operation, it will increase the peak annual output of the "Shenhai No. 1" gas field to 4.5 billion cubic meters, equivalent to 90% of Hainan Island's natural gas consumption.
