New Breakthrough! My Country's Highest Pressure Deepwater Well Completes Drilling Operations
Dec 14, 2023
Today (December 14), CNOOC announced that Well A12, the development well with the highest pressure in the second phase of the "Deep Sea No. 1" project, has completed drilling operations, setting a new record for domestic deepwater development well pressure levels. It is of great significance to ensure the smooth commissioning of the project and further develop deepwater complex oil and gas resources.

CCTV reporter Gu Junling: I am now on the Haiyang Shiyou 982 drilling platform, about 180 kilometers southeast of Hainan Island. Under my feet, about 1,000 meters deep on the seabed, is the A12 well that has just completed drilling operations. The absolute pressure of the formation exceeds 69 MPa, which is equivalent to 1,000 times the working pressure of our household pressure cookers.

The "Deep Sea One" Phase II project is located in a sea area with complex stratigraphic conditions and faces world-class problems such as deep water, high temperature and high pressure in the formation. It is my country's first deep water high pressure project. The water depth is nearly 1,000 meters, 2.2 times that of the first phase of "Deep Sea No. 1", the formation pressure reaches 69 MPa, and it also faces high temperature challenges of 138 degrees Celsius. Among the 12 subsea gas wells deployed in the second phase, 3 wells are deepwater high-pressure wells, among which the A12 well has the highest operational risk and is extremely difficult to develop.

Liu Shujie, chief engineer of CNOOC Hainan Branch: Well A12 has been drilled to a depth of more than 4,300 meters. So far, the total drilling footage of the second phase of the "Deep Sea No. 1" project has exceeded 50,000 meters, which is equivalent to the height of six Mount Everests. The overall progress of drilling operations reached 90%, laying a solid foundation for the project to be put into production on time.
Innovatively build a deepwater high-temperature and high-pressure core technology system
Faced with world-class problems such as high temperature and high pressure, the second phase of the "Deep Sea One" project innovated the engineering model and accelerated project development.
As it is located between the two production facilities of the "Deep Sea No. 1" energy station and the Yacheng 13-1 platform, the second phase of the "Deep Sea No. 1" project has an innovative engineering model and fully relies on existing production facilities for development.

Liu Shujie, Chief Engineer of CNOOC Hainan Branch: Constructing four key technologies including deepwater high-pressure well safety control technology, centralized wellhead large-scale operation technology, deepwater deep long-reach well efficiency improvement technology, and deepwater long-term production guarantee technology The core technology system for deepwater high-pressure well drilling and completion ensures the smooth implementation of the drilling and completion operations of the second phase of the "Deep Sea No. 1" project.

The "Deep Sea No. 1" energy station implements remote control of its underwater production system, and builds a new jacket platform next to the Yacheng 13-1 platform. The natural gas produced is transported to Yacheng 13-1 through a newly built 113-kilometer submarine pipeline. After processing by the platform's production and processing system, it is transported to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and other places.
The annual gas production of the "Deep Sea No. 1" gas field exceeds 4.5 billion cubic meters
The "Shenhai No. 1" second phase project is my country's first deepwater high-pressure gas field project. Once put into operation, the overall annual output of the "Shenhai No. 1" gas field will exceed 4.5 billion cubic meters.
The "Shenhai No. 1" ultra-deepwater gas field has proven natural gas geological reserves of more than 100 billion cubic meters, a maximum water depth of more than 1,500 meters, and a maximum well depth of more than 4,000 meters. It is the deepest and most difficult offshore offshore development independently developed by my country to date. Ultra-deep water gas fields. The first phase was put into production on June 25, 2021. With the exploration and development of the second phase, the natural gas reserves of "Deep Sea No. 1" increased from 100 billion cubic meters to 150 billion cubic meters, and the peak annual production increased from 3 billion cubic meters to 45 billion cubic meters, equivalent to 90% of Hainan Island's natural gas consumption in 2021.
