Tarim Fuman Oilfield Breaks China's Ultra-deep Well Drilling Record Five Times
Sep 04, 2024
It is reported that in the Fuman Oilfield in the heart of the Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang, the fastest ultra-deep well drilling record has been broken through engineering and technological innovation. In the first seven months, China's ultra-deep well drilling record has been broken five times. The fastest 8,000-meter deep well was completed within 100 days, further accelerating the growth of reserves and production in the ultra-deep field. It is reported that as of the end of July, the cumulative drilling footage of the Tarim Oilfield this year has reached 650,000 meters, which is equivalent to drilling through 73 underground Mount Everests.

The Tarim Oilfield has drilled more than 160 ultra-deep wells with a depth of 8,000 meters. The ultra-deep oil and gas reserves found account for three-quarters of the country's total. The annual oil and gas production from ultra-deep layers is nearly 20 million tons equivalent, ranking first in the country. It has become the country's largest ultra-deep oil and gas production base.
