Wei Bo, deputy general manager of Yaxin Coalbed Methane Group, said that the "dual gas co-exploitation" technology can not only exploit natural gas in coal seams, but also obtain coal gas at the same time, which greatly improves the utilization efficiency of coal resources.
It is reported that the UCG test is a technical difficulty that needs to be addressed in the major science and technology project of the Autonomous Region Science and Technology Department, "Technology for Efficient Development of Coalbed Methane Resources in Xinjiang's Difficult to Mine Coals." The project will be launched in April 2023 and is mainly dedicated to overcoming key and difficult technologies for clean and efficient utilization of coal (underground coal gasification) and coal bed methane development.
After long-term basic research and engineering practice, the scientific research team successfully broke through the limitations of traditional ignition technology and achieved one-time successful ignition, laying a solid foundation for large-scale industrial demonstration of underground coal gasification.
Wei Bo said that the project has also achieved in-situ gasification of coal seams over a kilometer long, which is the first time in China that this technological breakthrough has been successful. The construction of a super-large wellless underground gasifier is also the first of its kind in China. These innovative achievements demonstrate Yaxin Coalbed Methane Group's outstanding strength in technological research and development.
The average calorific value of air gas in this UCG test exceeded 2,500 kcal per cubic meter, with the highest exceeding 4,000 kcal per cubic meter. The results reached the leading level at home and abroad. This increase in calorific value will provide stronger support for the clean utilization of energy.
