Niu Xiaobing said that the discovery of the over-100-million-ton integrated oil field in Longdong marks a major breakthrough in oil exploration in the complex faulted areas of the western Ordos Basin and opens up a new field of oil exploration and development in the western part of the basin.

According to reports, Changqing Oilfield has built a world-class extra-large oil and gas field with an annual output of 65 million tons in the Ordos Basin. "Oil exploration in the Hongde area has made rapid breakthroughs, and oil field development has also accelerated. The current daily crude oil production level has reached 504 tons. The discovered oil reserves have formed a crude oil production capacity of 500,000 tons per year." Niu Xiaobing said.

According to the "Oil and Gas Mineral Resources and Reserves Classification" implemented in 2020, oil and gas minerals are divided into resources and geological reserves. According to Xinhua News Agency, Changqing Oilfield is the largest oil and gas field in China. The exploration area is mainly located in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Basin, spanning the five provinces (regions) of Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Mongolia and Shanxi, with a total area of approximately 370,000 square kilometers. Oil, natural gas, coalbed methane, and coal resources are abundant, but the quality of the resources is not high.

According to Gansu Daily, the oil and gas resources in the Ordos Basin are typical low-pressure, low-permeability, and low-abundance oil and gas reservoirs in the world, and their economical and effective development is a global problem. Changqing Oilfield has taken the initiative to acquire oil and gas resources in the basin after half a century of exploration and practice since the oil war in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Basin in the 1970s.

Changqing Oilfield focuses on the research and development of basin geological evolution, oil and gas generation, and storage mechanisms. It has formed original geological theories for rapid discovery and economical and effective development, and has overcome the main technologies of three-dimensional seismic in the loess plateau, optimal and fast drilling of horizontal wells, and factory-based volume fracturing. , has successively proven 4 billion-ton and 4 trillion-cubic-meter oil and gas areas, and the cumulative proven oil and gas reserves account for one-third of the country's discovered reserves.

In 2019, the oil and gas production of Changqing Oilfield reached 57 million tons, surpassing the annual oil and gas production record of 56 million tons at the peak of Daqing Oilfield for the first time, becoming China's largest oil and gas field; in 2020, the oil and gas equivalent production of Changqing Oilfield exceeded 60 million tons. For the first time in China, a super-large oil and gas field with an annual production of 60 million tons of oil and gas equivalent was built.

As of November 30 this year, the annual oil and gas production of Changqing Oilfield reached 60.0985 million tons. Among them, 23.5902 million tons of crude oil and 45.818 billion cubic meters of natural gas have achieved efficient and stable production of more than 60 million tons for four consecutive years.

Changqing Oilfield official Weibo data shows that the oil and gas equivalent of the oil field will exceed 66 million tons in 2023, setting another record high. In the 53 years since its development and construction, the oil field has produced more than 900 million tons of oil and gas.
