9508 Meters! My Country's First Offshore Deep Well Officially Put Into Production

Apr 13, 2024

The reporter learned from CNOOC today (April 13) that the first deep offshore well independently designed and implemented by my country was officially put into production.

24-4-13

The ultra-deep extended reach well in CNOOC Enping Oilfield is located in the sea about 200 kilometers southwest of Shenzhen, with an average water depth of 86 meters and a tested daily crude oil production of more than 700 tons. The well was drilled to a depth of 9,508 meters. Different from the vertical well, its vertical depth is only about 2,000 meters, but it continued to drill 8,689 meters horizontally under the seabed. Not only did it set the record for the deepest drilling in my country's oceans, but it also set a new record for the horizontal length of my country's offshore drilling.
