8,500 Meters! Tarim Fuman Oilfield Breaks The Fastest Drilling Record

Feb 12, 2025

The Manshen 7-H7 well is a development well deployed in the Aman transition zone of the northern depression of the Tarim Basin, and was drilled by the 90001 drilling team of the Korla branch of Bohai Drilling. Before the well was drilled, the Tazhong Project Management Department of the Oil and Gas Field Capacity Construction Division of the Tarim Oilfield and the drilling company, combined with the speed-up situation of neighboring wells, formulated a detailed speed-up plan, optimized the drilling parameters in time during the actual drilling, and drilled the target layer in 58.75 days, setting a new record for the fastest drilling of the target layer in the Manshen block. The drilling fluid management personnel of both parties continuously optimized the performance of the drilling fluid, reduced the invalid footage time, and increased the drilling speed, laying a solid foundation for increasing the drilling speed and efficiency.

During the construction process, the Tazhong Project Management Department arranged technical personnel with strong professional qualities to serve as the well manager, formulated a "1123" speed-up plan, and strived for the overall speed-up goal of completing drilling in 85 days; taking geological and engineering integration as the key point, actively communicated with all parties, and conducted special briefings on site; carried out daily risk assessment work, and carried out targeted prevention of possible risks in advance, achieving effective prevention of complex faults.
