Desanders and defilters are both very common equipment in oil drilling. Their functions are to remove impurities and sediments entering the wellhead to ensure the normal progress of drilling. Although their functions are similar, they are very different in principle, structure and application occasions. Here are a few differences:

1. The main function of the desander is to remove particulate matter such as stones and sand; the main function of the defilter is to remove tiny particles suspended in the liquid.

2. The desander is usually installed on the top of the drill string; the defilter is usually installed before the pump.

3. The desander needs to be cleaned regularly during use, while the defilter needs to replace the filter element more frequently.

4. The desander has a simpler structure, is easy to move, and is more suitable for on-site maintenance; the defilter requires higher manufacturing precision and needs to be pre-manufactured on the production line.

5. The principle of the desander is to separate the particulate matter by inertial separation; the principle of the defilter is to screen tiny particles by the size and structure of the filter element pores.

6. The maintenance and replacement of desanders are relatively simple, while defilters require corresponding professional knowledge and tools for maintenance.

7. Desanders need to replace different filters to achieve the effect of filtering different impurities; defilters can filter out tiny particles without replacement.

8 Desanders are generally only used in the early stage of drilling, while defilters can be used throughout the drilling process.

The desander for oil drilling is an important equipment that can ensure the normal operation of the entire drilling system, prevent the solid particles in the well from damaging the downhole equipment and tools, ensure the safety and reliability of the drilling process, and improve the drilling efficiency and economic benefits.

Its function is simply like a filter, which can filter out the sand and stones brought back from the bottom of the well to prevent them from entering the drill bit and wellhead again. If there is no desander, the sand and stones in the well will cause serious wear and damage to the drill bit, and even jam the drill bit, resulting in interruption of the drilling process.

Desander is one of the indispensable equipment in the drilling process, and its existence can greatly improve the efficiency and success rate of oil drilling. It is precisely because of the desander that we can complete the task of oil drilling more smoothly and make greater contributions to our social energy cause.
