China's Largest Oil And Gas Platform in Bohai Sea Completes Floatover Installation
Dec 21, 2023
The reporter learned from the CNOOC Tianjin Branch on the 20th that the Suizhong 36-1CEPQ (Central Processing Platform), the largest offshore oil and gas platform in the Bohai Sea, completed the floatover installation and was successfully placed in the Liaodong Bay of the Bohai Sea.

It is understood that Suizhong 36-1CEPQ (Central Processing Platform) is an important component of the first phase of the Suizhong 36-1/Lvda 5-2 oil field secondary adjustment project. The platform is 31.2 meters high, exceeding the height of a ten-story residential building. It is 68.9 meters long, 70.8 meters wide and weighs about 17,000 tons. It is the largest and heaviest floating platform in the Bohai Oilfield to date.
Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield is China's largest self-operated offshore oil field. Its cumulative crude oil production in 30 years of development has exceeded 100 million cubic meters, which is equivalent to the amount used by China's 10 million urban and rural population in about 20 years. Luda 5-2 Oilfield is adjacent to Suizhong 36-1 Oilfield. Since it was put into production in 2005, it has produced more than 12 million tons of crude oil.
It is reported that the secondary adjustment project is a capacity expansion and production increase project for these two oil fields. It will be implemented in two phases. It mainly includes the construction of 2 central processing platforms, 2 wellhead platforms, 3 trestle support platforms, and the repair of multiple existing platforms. Adaptive transformation, etc., is the largest secondary adjustment project in the history of China's offshore oil industry. It is also one of the "ballast stone" projects for the Bohai Oilfield to increase production to 40 million tons in 2025.
Offshore floatover operations in Liaodong Bay in winter face complex and changeable climate environments and challenges, and the project operation area is located in a dense area of oil production platforms, with intricate submarine pipeline facilities. In order to ensure operation safety, the project team continued to conduct dynamic monitoring and risk management and control, and optimized the construction plan. And during the operation, the weather conditions in the sea area were monitored in real time, and the windlass and tug were linked to adjust the entry speed and direction of the unpowered barge to ensure the smooth completion of the platform floatation.
It is understood that the floatover installation of Suizhong 36-1CEPQ (Central Processing Platform) is the final battle of CNOOC's floatover operations this year. In 2023, CNOOC completed a total of 6 platform floatover installations, with a total weight of 86,700 tons, and the number and weight of floatovers hit a record high.
