5910 Meters! Bohai Oilfield Once Again Sets The Record For The Deepest Well

Jan 17, 2024

On January 15, it was learned from CNOOC Tianjin Branch that the Bozhong 19-6-M4 well, the production well of the Phase I development project of the Bozhong 19-6 gas field, the first 100 billion square meters gas field in the Bohai Bay, successfully completed drilling operations. , with a depth of 5,910 meters, once again setting a new record for well depth in the Bohai Oilfield.

As the deepest well in the CNOOC Bohai Oilfield, the well has complex geological conditions, abnormal high pressure and vicious leakage in non-target sections, high well control risks, high drilling tool torque, and high bottom hole temperature, among many other difficulties and challenges.

During the implementation of the operation, the operation team adopted the policy of "one well, one strategy" and "one section, one strategy" and applied the entire process of fine pressure control technology to achieve near-balanced drilling and pressure-controlled tripping to maximize reservoir protection. At the same time, we have always implemented the concept of reservoir protection throughout the entire process of fast in, fast out, and timely flowback to achieve healthy and sustainable development of gas fields, forming a Bohai Sea deep well buried hill drilling technology system.

While setting the record for the deepest well, the Bozhong 19-6-M4 well also achieved high production, with a daily oil production of 284.5 cubic meters and a daily gas production of 52,000 cubic meters. The completion of the drilling operation of this well not only marks the Bohai Oilfield reaching a new level in the field of deep wells, but also lays a solid foundation for the safe and efficient development of the Bozhong 19-6 gas field of 100 billion cubic meters.
