24 Western Drilling Teams Honked Overseas And Started Drilling To Welcome The New Year
Feb 06, 2024

"Start drilling!" On February 2, following an order, China National Petroleum Corporation Western Drilling Engineering Co., Ltd. International Engineering Co., Ltd. honked its horn and started drilling two new wells in Egypt.
The Egyptian drilling market is one of the key development markets for western drilling. Currently, all six drilling teams of Western Drilling International Engineering Company in Egypt have started construction.
While Egypt is accelerating drilling, the directional well E-CH-FN1 drilled by Western Drilling in Georgia is also accelerating. This well is the first well drilled by Western Drilling in Georgia, marking the entry of PetroChina's first engineering and technical service team into the Georgian drilling market. Well E-CH-FN1 was drilled in October 2023 and has been safely drilled to 4035 meters, exceeding the designed well depth of 83 meters.
As of February 4, this year, 24 teams of western drilling companies have started drilling overseas, sounding the loudest clarion call to start drilling in the new year overseas. "In 2024, we will set the best overseas start record in history, taking a solid first step to promote high-quality overseas development in the new year." Xu Teng, executive director of Western Drilling International Engineering Company, said.
Currently, the overseas project departments of Western Drilling are working hard to move and install top-drilling rigs with the passion of waiting for no time. The derricks are rising one after another. The sound of drilling whistles is heard in many oil fields. The Chinese managers are serving on the front line and staying on the front line to provide services for the oilfields. In 2024, we will complete the goal of increasing revenue and creating profits with high quality, and gain opportunities for subsequent market expansion.

In Kazakhstan's Aktobe, Aktau, Kyzylorda and other places, Western Drilling has drilled more than 10 wells. At present, the temperature in Kazakhstan continues to drop, and extreme weather such as continuous snowstorms occurs, which brings severe challenges to the relocation and installation of drilling rigs.
The Overseas Project Department of Kazakhstan pays real-time attention to weather changes and road conditions, combines actual production, closely follows the exploration and development of various oil fields and well location dynamics, promptly and quickly organizes machinery and tools to construct well sites and roads, and strives to shorten the redundant time in the well location connection process. Achieve quick moving and installation in low temperature weather in winter.
In response to speed-increasing problems such as high-pressure plastic mudstone and large-angle orientation in the Aktobe Zhannar block, Western Drilling boldly used high-speed turbines + impregnated artificial polycrystalline diamond composite bits, and installed rotary steering tools to effectively prevent horizontal sections from being damaged. Support pressure can accurately control the trajectory and increase the drilling speed. For the CNPC International (Kazakhstan) Mangeshtau Company project, Western Drilling applied the "measurement while drilling + screw artificial polycrystalline diamond composite bit" one-trip drilling technology, and implemented leakage prevention and control measures such as ground layer pressure testing to effectively control leakage. It can survive complex drilling conditions and improve drilling timeliness.

In 2023, Western Drilling completed 408,700 meters of footage overseas, successfully developed 6 high-end projects in Kazakhstan and Egypt, completed 290 wells, cemented 331 wells, and repaired 192 wells throughout the year, and its overseas integrated drilling service capabilities have been improved. Improve quickly.
